The Museum of the Roman Theater of Cartagena, whose patronage is made up of the Autonomous Community, the City Council and the Cajamurcia Foundation, has organized for Saturday, August 26, from 21:00 hours, the guided night tour 'El teatro Under the light of the moon '.

Thus, the visitor will take a tour of the most emblematic work promoted by Augustus in the old Carthago Nova, through the project of recovery carried out by the architect Rafael Moneo.

A journey from the 21st century to the 1st century BC that begins with a guide, in the museum, where the keys of Roman civilization are discovered, and ends at the archaeological jewel of the Roman Theater.

The tour includes room 1 that houses the collection of monumental architecture, in it are given the keys necessary to understand the architecture of the theatrical building through the exhibition of original pieces, in addition to a model and other didactic elements.

The architectural elements, bases, cornices and capitals, make the theater of Cartagena a magnificent exponent of the public and monumental architecture of the time of Augustus, whose image presides over the room as benefactor of the city.

In room 2, the visitor will know the functions of the theater in antiquity, since, in addition to its playful function, the theater building was the ideal setting for the political and religious propaganda of Augustus, personified in the Roman Theater of Cartagena by the Two young princes Cayo and Lucio, who, moreover, had to participate in the financing of the same and, probably, in the election of its ornamental program.

As in other Roman cities, members of the most notable families of the city, such as the Iunius and Postumios, also participated in its financing.

The contemplation of the altars and inscriptions allow visitors to understand the keys to patronage and political promotion in ancient times.

The visit 'The theater under the light of the moon' has a cost of ten euros.
