The town of Martos, Jaen, celebrates throughout this year the 150th anniversary of the birth of composer Antonio Álvarez Alonso, a native of the town of Jaén and died in Cartagena, where he composed the popular pasodoble 'Suspiros de España'.
For this union between the two cities through the figure of the Maestro, the Musical Group Sauces participated last Monday in the XXVI Meeting of Music Bands Maestro Álvarez Alonso, next to the Maestro Soler Band.
The two bands, who are twinned, attended in the morning the discovery of the bust of the composer in front of the Municipal Theater that receives his name, and then made a wreath before the image.
In the act was present the mayor of the locality, Víctor Torres.
In the afternoon, the groups participated in different parades with different tours of the city that ended at the 'Teatro Municipal Maestro Álvarez Alonso'.
Both the curious and those who knew the event could enjoy a free concert offered by the musicians of both bands.
THE 'FRIENDS OF THE ZARZUELA' OF CARTAGENA ALSO PARTICIPATE IN THE TRIBUNAL ACTS
In addition to the program of activities for this 150th anniversary, the Lyric 'Mediterranean' of the 'Friends of the Zarzuela' of Cartagena, will offer an Anthology of Zarzuela in his honor, next Sunday 23 at 21.30, in The Teatro "Álvarez Alonso", in which he will interpret fragments of zarzuelas composed by the Master Álvarez Alonso, Sighs of Spain, Hymn to Martos ...
It is planned that after the arrival and reception of the expedition to the municipality of Marteño a tour of the city will be offered to the 75 expeditionaries who come to take part in the town, promoted by the Municipality of Martos.
