Implements a geographic information service on the city map to optimize services and move towards smart city
The student of the School of Telecommunication of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) Alfonso Vivancos has presented in his Work End of Degree (TFG) a geographic information system that he developed as a fellow of the Chair of Municipal Infrastructures with which they can be visualized And interact on the map of Cartagena ORA vendors, control panels and street lamps according to their power, hydrants and supply networks, trees and containers.
The Chair's Information and Communication Technologies line integrated a free software platform into a tool to visualize and control the different municipal resources and display them both in the Consistory's control room and in any device connected to the Internet.
"This way, the City can control its resources in a more efficient way, or what is the same, to turn Cartagena into a Smart City", explains the director of the TFG, José María Molina.
Accessing real-time data from the regulated parking service, knowing the different power and consumption of street lamps and the location of dashboards, hydrants, containers or elements of the road are some of the utilities of the system developed "to allow performances Faster and more efficient, "says Vivancos, a new graduate of the UPCT.
"The analysis of the big data provided by these new technologies is fundamental for the optimization of municipal services in a smart city," concludes Molina.
