The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, received today the Belgian ambassador, Marc Calcoen, during a protocolary visit that was held in the Consisotorial Palace.
After the meeting, the mayor has invited Calcoen to sign in the city's Golden Book, an act that has been carried out, as usual, in the old round office of Mayor's Office, now known as the room of Isaac Peral.
Ambassador Marc Calcoen (Ieper, 1961) came to Spain with nearly 30 years of diplomatic experience in Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Paris, Brussels, Singapore, Brunei and New York.
He holds a degree in Law and Political and Social Sciences from the Catholic University of Louvain and holds a Masters in Law from the University of Virginia in the United States.
His work, in addition to representing Belgium, focuses, as he has said on occasion, in strengthening the historical, economic and cultural ties that unite his country with Spain.
