The Board of Trustees of the Congress Office has met this morning under the direction of its president, Ana Belén Castejón, and has approved the accounts.
In this year a surplus of 982.49 euros was reached, ending the losses of previous years.
The mayor of Cartagena has very positively valued the work carried out by the manager of the Foundation of the Office of Congresses, Antonio García, which has managed to put an end to the deficit that dragged this body.

Once the accounts have been balanced, the manager of the Foundation has placed his position at the disposal of the mayor, so it has been agreed to open a period of reflection to reorient the policy of attracting congresses in the municipality.
The business sector present at the meeting has exposed the need to unify the strategy of attracting congress tourism, which is currently dispersed between different public and private entities.
"We have managed to put an end to the losses we have had so far and the hoteliers are asking for a renewal. For this reason, I have undertaken to study the role and structure of the Congress Office, taking into account all sectors involved in a Such an important issue for our municipality, "said the mayor.
Castejón explained that, taking advantage of the implementation of a Strategic Tourism Plan, it will include a medium-term road map that will take into account the relevance of congressional policy in the municipality.
