The Plaza Alegre Pine Square, located at the confluence of Monaco, San José and San Martín de Porres streets, is now the Plaza of Francisco Abellán Caravaca, after the tribute paid yesterday by City Hall and neighbors, in memory of the Who was president of the neighborhood association between 1999 and 2007, died in 2015. And they did it by nominating this public space, on whose monolith a commemorative plaque already shines.
The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, presided over an event that also included the councilors of the municipal corporation Juan Pedro Torralba, Francisco Calderón and Diego Ortega, and the president of the Municipal Board of Alumbres, Miguel Garrido.
They all dressed the widow, Juana Balastegui, and children of Francisco Abellán Caravaca, Andrés, Lucia and Jesus, who, proudly, thanked the gesture.
The mayor glosó the figure of the honoree and his eagerness to work always for its neighborhood, turning all his initiative and interest by the problems and needs of the neighbors, obtaining evident improvements like the doctor's office, the playground and the sports court, also giving Administrative thrust to the construction of the social center they now enjoy.
Faced with this, said Ana Belen Castejón, the municipal corporation, meeting the unanimous demand of the neighbors, has also understood that it was only fair to recognize its figure and leave it as an example for future generations of this neighborhood.
Thus, the agreement for the nomination of the Plaza of Francisco Abellán Caravaca, was approved in plenary held last June 2, unanimously of the twenty-seven councilors who make up the municipal corporation.
The act of homage, which closed the mayor, also had an emotional moment and anecdotes, which was run by the priest Antonio Bermejo, a friend of Francisco Abellán, who blessed the plaza and everyone present.
