A group of 21 children from Belarus, specifically in areas near the site of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, will spend this summer in Cartagena with host families thanks to an initiative organized by the Association of Families of Solidarity with the People Belarusian
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, received this Thursday at the Palace Hall of the children's group and the families that welcome them.
There he has dedicated a few words to them and they have been presented with a memory of his visit.
Likewise, representatives of the association that organizes this initiative have delivered to the first mayor of the first issue of the annual magazine that has begun to edit the collective.
It should be noted that the two-month stay helps these children, from the cloud-affected areas of the nuclear disaster of the Ukrainian city of Chernobyl, to reduce their levels of radioactivity and improve their health problems .
Ana Belén Castejón said that it is "a pleasure" to receive one more year to these children and has recognized the work of the association and families, who have thanked her "work" and "solidarity."
For his part, the delegate in Cartagena and the region of the Association of Solidary Families with the People of Belarus, Juan Carlos Sánchez, has encouraged the Cartagena families to join and take in children during the summer.
