Jury decision to be announced before November 1 |
On the occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the La Palma Comedy Contest, to be held in 2018, the Cultural Association Now Theater, in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena and the Neighborhood Council of this Cartagena deity, has launched the I Literary Contest of Comedies Campo de Cartagena.
The councilor of Culture, David Martinez, the president of the jury of the competition and official chronicler of Cartagena, José Sánchez, and the president of the Cultural Association Now Theater, Francisco Rodríguez, presented Thursday the bases of it.
To participate in this First Literary Contest of Campo de Cartagena Comedies, interested persons must send by ordinary mail three copies of their work signed under a pseudonym within the term of admission of texts, which will begin next Tuesday August 1 and will extend until 30 of September.
The pieces will have to be original texts, written in Castilian and will have to be of the genre comedy.
Both monologues and other types of works will be accepted.
Works that are judged by the jury will not include xenophobic, homophobic, sexually discriminatory or any other implicit or explicit forms of incitement to hatred or violence in any of its aspects.
The winner will receive an accrediting diploma and an endowment of 500 euros.
The award will be presented at the closing ceremony of the XX Contest of Comedies, to be held in February 2018 at the La Palma Civic Center.
The decision of the jury will occur before November 1 and the winner will be informed in the week following the same.
It will also be published on social networks.
The jury will be composed of three members, who will be José Sánchez (president), Francisco Rodríguez and Verónica Martínez (who also belongs to the Cultural Association Now Theater).
The mayor of Culture, David Martínez, explained that "Cartagena is a land of theater and writers" and that for this reason "the City Council always supports to encourage writing" and access to literature.
In addition, the councilman believes that this contest "will be very successful."
José Sánchez, for his part, commented that "comedy hides the great message that, despite the difficulties and uncertainties of life, life is worth living" and added that through this genre " Can censor personal or social vices. "
The president of the jury has encouraged the participants to "treat the audience as intelligent and adult" and not to fall in search of easy laughter.
"Comedy is a kick of optimism, which allows us to continue to see or enjoy the good things in life," he concluded.
According to Francisco Rodríguez, this first edition of the Literary Contest Campo de Cartagena "comes to complement the whole theatrical activity of La Palma, which is very much."
The president of the Cultural Association Now Theater affirmed that with the launching of the same is sought "to promote literary creation and theatrical activity as an artistic expression through comedy."
Another objective, as indicated by the mayor of Culture, is to "promote and encourage the literary creation and the staging of comic theatrical texts of new authors who want to make themselves known."
