This Wednesday, July 26th, the first interconcejalia meeting was held with representatives of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (UPCT), in which both institutions have shown their firm commitment to increase collaboration in training, entrepreneurship and employment.
In particular, programs such as the Emprende-Innova will be strengthened, which is already being carried out.
In addition, as Cartagena has entered the Network of Intelligent Cities (RECI), from the City Council has been on the table the idea of ​​organizing in the autumn a day of smart cities in which the Polytechnic University will participate.
The objective is to determine what measures are necessary to place Cartagena in a good position to be considered a city of intelligent tourism.
On the other hand, in terms of Infrastructures, the UPCT has requested to collaborate in the remodeling project of the Alfonso XIII promenade, which the City Council will execute in two phases, with the objective of adapting to the needs and characteristics of the campus.
The mayor stressed the work to strengthen relations between both institutions and highlighted the joint work in the field of employment, which was attended by the manager of the Agency for Local Development and Employment (ADLE), Manuel Mora.
In the same line has been expressed the rector of the UPCT, who has ensured that the relationship between the City of Cartagena and UPCT is "very positive" and expressed his satisfaction for this meeting that has not been limited to be between Díaz Morcillo and The mayor of Cartagena, but included all the councils involved in the activity carried out by the university and a large part of the rectoral team.
