The Board of Governors today approved the early repayment of 7.2 million euros that were owed to three financial institutions.

This amount corresponds to almost 50% of the surplus that in 2016 was generated in the City Hall.

The Mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, recalled: "With this new debt reduction we continue to clean up the accounts of the Consistory and leave the debt to banks at just over 65 million euros, compared to 115.5 that we find in loans to Banks at the beginning of the legislature, which means a reduction, in just over two years, of 43.63% ".

The repayment of these loans means a reduction of the total debt carried by the City of Cartagena in 63 million euros.

"We are doing our duties well and we will continue on this path, but every time we reduce the debt gives us more strength to continue claiming the Government of Spain more flexibility for the deficit objectives, as well as the possibility of managing our Surplus because it is unfair that we are able to tighten the belt and then we can not use this money that we have saved so much to provide services to citizens, "said Castejón.

DYNAMIZATION OF BUSINESS TISSUE

The local Government Board, at the proposal of the Councilor for Finance, Isabel Garcia, has also given the green light to an initiative aimed at granting subsidies for the promotion and dynamization of the business fabric of the municipality of Cartagena, so that they can take part Of this call all non-profit associations constituted by entrepreneurs of any sector that develop their activity in the municipality of Cartagena, followed for the adjudication of the procedure of competitive concurrence.

The total amount of this call reaches 60,000 euros, and the amount of each subsidy can not exceed 50% of the budget of the activity.

The criteria to be taken into account for the granting of the subsidy will be the quality and interest of the project from the point of view of business development and dynamism, the originality and / or innovative character of the project, its technical and economic feasibility and territorial scope.

Interested parties may submit their applications in the General Registry of the City Council, in the Municipal Office of Information and Administrative Processing (OMITAS) within 20 calendar days after publishing the call in the Official Gazette of the Region.
