The works on the Cartagena-Escombreras service vial involve an investment of three million
The Minister of the Presidency and Development, Pedro Rivera, along with the president of the Port Authority, Antonio Sevilla, visited today the La Curra dock, which "will be the object of an improvement and remodeling action to advance the integration of the port in the City of Cartagena ".
The conditioning works, financed by the Port Authority of Cartagena for an amount of 1.3 million euros and which will be put out to tender next week, will focus on improving the stretch of the port service road connecting the La Curra And the roundabout of the Samson Crane.
Pedro Rivera said that this action is "key to increasing the economic and social development of Cartagena," given that "it adds value to the city and turns its spaces into more attractive places, with a wide range of uses and routes for Cartagena And visitors. "
The counselor stressed that this is an "important pedestrian transit route and will become a flexible and versatile, safer and better connected with the city center."
The head of the Ministry of Presidency and Development noted that such actions "contribute to the transformation of the sea front and, thus, the economic diversification and tourism in the city, objectives of both the regional government and the Port Authority ".
The minister stressed that this project "is a further example of the contribution of the Port Authority to the improvement of infrastructure in the Region" and noted that "it is fundamental coordination of all administrations to achieve reality projects such as the Camarillas variant , The arrival of the High Speed ​​to Cartagena and the future dock of containers of the Gorguel ".
Integral improvement
The action will take place in a stretch of 1.5 kilometers and will consist of the integral adaptation of the pedestrian environment in order to promote accessibility and reduce architectural barriers, and the creation of a sports area, equipped with furniture and rails to Bike and runners, and an area for bus parking.
Likewise, external public lighting will be renewed with the installation of LED luminaires to contribute to energy efficiency and low consumption.
The remodeling works of the urban environment have a term of execution of six months.
With these works will complete the conditioning of the entire Cartagena-Escombreras service vial, in which an overall amount of three million euros will be invested.
One of the actions focused on the construction of the pedestrian path in the section that runs from the beginning of the dam of La Curra to the tunnel of Cala Cortina, in order to guarantee the safety of both vehicles and pedestrians.
It was also acted in the neighborhood of Santa Lucía, to give it a more urban and less portly character.
The work was carried out in the section of the service road of the port that goes from the Plaza de la Isla to the roundabout of the Crane Sansón, while the old access to the pier of Santa Lucia was recovered and it was added to the zone of Dock service at the Container Terminal.
