The spokespersons of all the municipal groups held a meeting yesterday afternoon, at the request of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, in which they agreed on a series of measures aimed at streamlining plenary sessions and reducing the tensions that have occurred in recent Months between the different parties.
From now on, the political groups have agreed to present their motions in sufficient time so that councilors can respond to their initiatives in a timely manner, not two days, or even 24 hours, before the municipal plenary sessions are held.
In the same way, they have decided to advance the board of spokespersons, at least two days and not half an hour before the plenary, as has been done.
Castejón recalled the discomfort that several municipal employees have sent him and all the spokespersons agreed that the officials and workers of the City Council should be left out of the political debate.
In addition, the date was set for holding the debate on the state of the municipality, which will be at the end of this year, to avoid coinciding with the full budgets.
This type of meetings will occur periodically, just as Ana Belén Castejón promised in her inaugural address as mayor of Cartagena.
