The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, was in charge of presenting the book 'Enigmas y misterios de la España Oculta' on Monday, July 17, written by journalist José María 'Eppo' Cardelo and archaeologist Santiago García, in the That reveal seven themes related to the mysteries of Spain and in which have Cartagena stories and Symbology.
The volume, published by Editorail Almuzara, talks about the werewolves, the origins of Halloween, crypts like the one of San José, the Santa Compaña, symbology and the Garduña.
As the authors advanced, soon, perhaps towards the end of this 2017, the second part of this book will be presented with new stories and new mysteries.
Ana Belén Castejón highlighted the work of the creators of the book, who have been able to combine "to perfection" history, archeology and mystery.
Thus, he stressed, "is a short book and easy to read," but that should "enjoy peacefully," and is that "one 'bites' to read more to see what happens in the next chapter."
In this sense Santiago García expressed himself, who agreed with the mayor and acknowledged that "can be read in an afternoon" but recommended "read it slowly."
The archaeologist and historian recalled how the initiative of the book appeared on Monday, during a work lunch a few years ago when they held together a radio program on history and mysteries.
"The next day we were already with the selection of material," Garcia recalled.
Both Cardelo and García showed their gratitude to the first mayor for his attendance and presentation of the event, as well as for the support received during his years of research to gather the information needed to write the text.
"We are not researchers of Wikipedia, we go to the sites and we rely on data and the information we collect ourselves," said the journalist, who stressed that "we investigated on the real site" and said that Cartagena has "an incredible story ".
In this way, he invited to visit the Crypt of San José, which is located in the Interpretation Center of the Punic Wall and that is spoken in the book, to anyone who has not yet done so, since it is a place "Unique in Spain" that has a series of remains and allegorical paintings to the dead that can not be seen anywhere else in the Iberian Peninsula.
Finally, before signing the book, Castejón showed his pride in making this facility available to Cartagena Puerto de Culturas, an entity that Castejón presides over, and emphasized municipal support to contribute from The City of Cartagena to give visibility to the project of Cardelo and Garcia.
