La Náutica Club La Vila Joiosa was the first club classified in a remarkable way in the third and final phase of the Spanish Sea Kayak Cup, organized by RCR Cartagena with the collaboration of the City Council of Cartagena, which was held on Saturday In waters of the Port of Cartagena.
The Royal Yacht Club of Palma, however, equaled the number of medals won by the champion team at this maritime event in which almost 200 paddlers crossed the bay of Cartagena to play the tournament.
The awarding of trophies, held at RCR Cartagena after the competition, was attended by Sports Councilor Ricardo Segado.
Participants were divided into two exits (one at 9:30 and another at 11:30) to meet a demanding course of between 10 and 15 kilometers, depending on the different modalities and categories.
It is worth noting the success of the organization, both in the sports aspect and in the safety aspect, taking into account the huge number of boats sailing and competing in the sea at the same time, distributed between the interior dock and the island of Las Palomas , The furthest point from which the kayakers arrived.
In this sense, the collaboration of the Maritime Captaincy, Port Authority, Maritime Rescue and Maritime Service of the Civil Guard, among other institutions was decisive.
In addition, to bring to Cartagena this national test has been decisive the support of the City of Cartagena and important local companies that have been sponsoring for years canoeing: SAES Submarine Electronics and Grupo Caliche.
The participation was also very positive, as much for the number of registered athletes as for its origin, since ten canoeing clubs of eight autonomous communities were gathered: Andalusia, Asturias, Baleares, Canarias, Madrid, Region of Murcia, Navarre and Valencia.
The last appointment for the national sea kayak this season will be next September 2 in the XI Championship of Spain to be held in Villajoyosa (Alicante).
The results of the complete competition can be consulted on the website of the Royal Spanish Canoe Federation.
