Dying in Pompeii 'from July 13 to September 14 at the Enrique Escudero de Castro Archaeological Museum.
This year's event is celebrating its second edition with an expanded offer following the success of last September.
On this occasion, explained Segado, there will be two different themes.
This same Thursday begins the program with the cycle 'The Century Illustrated', which will bring to the Archaeological Museum a total of six films "that reflect how the cinema has treated a century as complex ideologically as the XVIII" and is part of the programming Of the Year of the Enlightenment that commemorates this 2017 in Cartagena.
Thus, this cycle includes 'The Century of Lights' (1992), 'A Real Issue' (2012), 'Esquilache' (1989), 'La Misión' (1986), 'Marie Antoinette' English and the Duke '(2001).
These films, explained the mayor of Archaeological Heritage, collect the new ideas of the century of light and palatial intrigues around the almighty figure of the monarch, but also echo a decisive event that marks the beginning of the French Revolution Of 1789 ".
Similarly, Ricardo Segado explained that the second theme "is more related to the Museum", and it will commemorate the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 with the cycle 'Annus LXXIX, die in Pompeii'.
For this, the films 'The Last Days of Pompeii' (1935 and 1959), 'Year 79, the destruction of Herculaneum' (1962) and 'Pompeii' (2014) have been prepared.
This cycle, which will serve as a prelude to the festivals of Carthaginians and Romans, will remember that "in just over 20 hours, the ashes silenced for centuries the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum, which were rediscovered in the eighteenth century and began to be excavated To the surprise of the whole world ".
The program will start this same Thursday after 21:45 hours in the garden of the Municipal Archaeological Museum, and will conclude on September 14, so that a film will be shown every Thursday at the same time.
Segado has assured that from the area of Culture and Heritage has been betting on this free activity "as a leisure alternative", which will allow Cartagena and visitors to enjoy a summer cinema with films of historical and cultural background.
