The councilman of the area of ​​Quality of Life and Health, Francisco Calderón, was interviewed Wednesday in Murcia with the managing director of the Murciano Health Service (SMS), Asensio López, and the head of the Technical General Secretariat of the SMS, Diego Fernández, a first contact since Lopez came to management last May, and has served to address various issues, such as the start of work on the second phase of the Health Center of San Antón, something that Asensión Lopez is committed to guarantee between September and October.

At the moment, the contracting of the works is in tender period, pending the mandatory technical and legal reports that analyze possible reckless casualties.

Once this process is completed, the final adjudication will be carried out, which will allow the construction of the sanitary infrastructure to resume, after more than a decade of delays.

Calderón reminded López of another commitment made by the regional executive to differentiate, in a real and effective way, the competence area of ​​Health II and VIII areas in relation to mental health care, recalling the Concern of the local executive for the filling of the service, caused especially by the fact that the patients of the area of ​​Health VIII (San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar, Torre Pacheco and Los Alcázares) are taken care of in the center of Cartagena.

In order to solve this situation, as proposed by the City Council and responsible for the Center for Mental Health in Cartagena, the Ministry of Health confirmed, in past months, the idea of ​​strengthening, as a priority, the Mental Health Unit existing in the Hospital de Los Arcos de San Javier.

This measure will make it possible for users of this area to be cared for there and not be forced to travel to Cartagena, achieving a better and more agile service for patients in both areas.

In another vein, Francisco Calderón has shown the regional obligation to comply with Law 3/2016, of March 21, for the full functioning of the Hospital of Santa Maria del Rosell as a general hospital, effectively undertaking , Coverage of certain services such as the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

Finally, the Councilor for Health has communicated to Asensio López the will of the local Executive to continue making improvements in the network of municipal medical offices.

Example of this will be the construction of a new office in Santa Ana pueblo.

The mayor has informed the manager of the SMS about these actions in order that the regional government foresees the destination of the budget item necessary to fulfill its obligations, among which are the furniture endowment.
