Ell Councilman of Culture of Cartagena, David Martínez, presented Wednesday the exhibition 'The seduction of the fragment', which is part of the program of activities of the Sea of ​​Art of the festival La Mar de Músicas, together with the artist author of the Shows, the Cuban Alexander Arrechea.
The mayor has assured that the Cuban is "one of the most sophisticated artists of the contemporary Cuban scene" and that he is "highly valued at international level", a fame that reached with Marco Castillo and Dagoberto Rodríguez within the Los Carpinteros cultural collective.
"It's a real privilege to have him," Martinez said.
The sample includes works of two recent artistic periods of the author, although with a thread that includes all the works around an anecdote.
Arrechea recalled three years ago, when the artist was in Washington, he agreed to the laboratories of the National Gallery of Art of the United States, where he could see, through the special microscope with which they work, a work by Vincent Van Gogh.
This opportunity to see the details of the painting at the microscopic level was so impressed that the idea of ​​working around the "fragment" arose.
In this way, he has highlighted works present in the exhibition as 'The Lives of Others', inspired by a German film with the same title that tells the historical moment in which the private life of the Germans was analyzed.
"Coming from Cuba, censorship has always played a very important role," said the artist.
The exhibition can be visited at the Palacio de Molina until Friday, September 1, from 9.30 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 7:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays;
And from 11.00 to 14.00 on Mondays.
