The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment extends until mid-September the exhibition 'Spanish Art in CARM collections (1950-1990)' at the Regional Museum of Modern Art of Cartagena (Muram).
The exhibition, which was scheduled to close these days, gathers more than fifty works by 49 artists of which more than half, a total of 28, are creators of the Region of Murcia.
The director general of Cultural Heritage, Juan Antonio Lorca, stated that "there are about 8,000 people who have already visited this large exhibition that offers a complete look at Spanish art in the second half of last century."
An exhibition, he added, "contributes to spreading our artistic heritage, showing it to the public inside and outside the Region, and now expanded so that it can be enjoyed by all the tourists who come to Cartagena every summer."
The selection made for the show starts in the 50s, with the art of postwar, and ends with the arts in transition, with the resistances and inventions of the 80s and 90s. Lorca pointed out that, through these works , "In the Muram you can perform a complete tour through some of the most significant artists of this period, both regionally and nationally and also with international projection.
The exhibition 'In his own name' by María José Contador (until 10 September) and the photography 'Ana Torralva' are also open in the Cartagena Museum this summer.

Visiting hours will be from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
On Saturdays, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Sundays and public holidays, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Two sections
On the first floor of the Muram is a collection of works integrated under the title 'From the postwar to the artistic experiments in the 70s', which refers to a time of changes.
For this section pieces of El Paso Group components such as Rafael Canogar and Luis Feito have been selected.
You can also see the work of Antoni TÃ pies, playing with the use of new materials, and other groups such as the Chronic Equipment.
In the Region of Murcia, on the one hand, the heritage of artists such as Gaya continues to be maintained, but new artists such as Mariano Ballester, Molina Sánchez, Gómez Cano, Avellaneda, Sofía Morales, Hernández Carpe, Aurelio Pérez or the representatives of the circle of Vicente Ros in Cartagena, with Ramón Alonso Luzzy or Enrique Gabriel Navarro.
Also included are sculptors like González Moreno, Campillo and Hernández Cano.
There is a second generation of the 60s, with independent painters such as José María Párraga, Pedro Serna, Manuel Avellaneda and Ángel Hernansáez, and creators who protest against power, represented by Antonio Ballester, Pedro Cano, Esteban Campuzano, Alfonso Albacete or the sculptor Elisa Séiquer.
The second floor is dedicated to 'The arts in transition with their resistances and inventions';
A historical period that is marked by changes and deep social and cultural transformations.
Understanding the period from 1980 to 1990, the exhibition is composed of works marked, for example, by the emotional gesture and pictorial intensity of Michelangelo Campano, the wood used by Lucio Muñoz, the vibration of the color of Navarro Baldeweg, the authenticity of the Matter of Josep Guinovart, the discourse on the memory of Eva Lootz or the abstraction of Chillida.
Of the Region are present Jose Luis Cacho, Vicente Ruiz, Chelete Moreneo, Angel Haro, Martinez Mengual or Jose Lucas.
As for the sculpture, it travels along the same paths as painting, with an absolute freedom of the artist who works with new conceptions, incorporating to the work abstraction and movement.
Among the creators representing the renovation of the sculpture stand out Susana Solano, Sergi Aguilar or Natividad Navalón, as well as the singularity of Francisco Leiro, minimalism, constructivism and conceptual art of Marco Marco or the transgeometry of Pablo Palazuelo.
