The first deputy mayor and responsible for the area of ​​Sustainable Development, José López, came this morning, accompanied by municipal technicians, to the Orchard of Cándido (La Palma), which recently passed to increase the municipal heritage after the assignment made by The neighbor Cándido García Molera.
The mayor has made a tour of the facilities of the garden garden to determine possible actions for improvement, as well as to begin the study of future uses for this space from the field of Sustainable Development.
ORCHARD
The Huerto de Candido is a space of 3,775 meters, which has been a protagonist in the history of La Palma during the last 65 years, housing more than 223 different species, grouped in 60 vegetable families.
Of them, they emphasize the cactus and other plants of short leaves.
They are welcomed in a very quiet area, closed by climbers that cover walls and meshes.
There, a wide range of environments and isolated areas meet in which different games of light, contrasts and chiaroscuro are observed.
It is planned that the garden will be named 'Huerto de Candido and Ana María'.
The assignment agreement also includes the possibility of establishing collaboration agreements, for information purposes, with entities related to botany or non-profit nature conservation associations.
