"Remembering Miguel Hernandez who disappeared in the dark and remembering it in full light, is a duty of Spain, a duty of love."
Thus begins the letter that Pablo Neruda wrote in Paris in October 1960 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the birth of an oriolan poet.
The relationship between the two poets was a relationship of friendship and admiration that the La Mar de Músicas festival wants to remember with '7 + 7;
Pablo versus Miguel ', an emerging art project in which students from Asido and IES Ben Arabí from Cartagena have worked, precisely the year in which they celebrate 75 years of the death of the poet of Orihuela.
The exhibition, which will be inaugurated this Friday, July 7 at 8:00 p.m. in an event that will be attended by the Councilor for Youth and Archaeological Heritage, Ricardo Segado, and the Councilor for Culture, can be seen at the Archaeological Museum Of the city until August 31.
Previously, this morning a press pass was made in which the media have been able to contemplate the works of these 14 artists and in which they have explained the meaning of their creations.
During this event prior to the inauguration, the Minister of Culture, David Martínez, the president of Asido, Juan Pedro Sánchez, the teacher of the Artistic Baccalaureate of IES Ben Arabí and the coordinator of this center, Nicole Palacios, the professor of Arte de Asido and coordinator of this association, Diego Inglés, as well as Josefa Rodríguez, from the Marketing Department of Ikea, representing the Swedish brand, who this year collaborates with this project, and artists Caridad Jiménez and David Díaz.
The Councilor for Culture has explained the raison d'être of the axis around which this exhibition revolves, which is none other than the relationship between the poet Oriolano Miguel Hernández, on the occasion of the recent declaration of Cartagena as 'Ciudad Hernandiana', given his Close relationship with the trimilenaria, and the Chilean writer Pablo Neruda, for the protagonism of Latin America in this edition of the festival La Mar de Músicas.
Martinez also highlighted the "great work" carried out by the 14 young people whom he defined as "great artists" and thanked the collaboration of Asido and IES Ben Arabí as well as the company Ikea.
'7 + 7' is a project of La Mar de Músicas that emerged in 2015 as a platform project for emerging art, where very young local artists, under 20 years old, work around an idea.
In 2015, the year in which the festival paid homage to Chile, the artists worked with the figure of Vicente Huidobro.
Last year, Sweden Special, worked with the Scandinavian design and Ikea material.
The structure of seven artists of a discipline has always been maintained, collaborating with seven artists from another discipline, seeking integration and mutual knowledge.
In Chile, 7 poets + 7 artists.
In Sweden, 7 designers + 7 musicians.
This edition in which a Special Latin American Sounds is celebrated, 7 artists from Ben Arabí + 7 artists from Asido are working on the project.
