After receiving a great success nationally and internationally, he arrives at the Auditorium El Batel 'Carmen', in charge of the National Dance Company (CND).
A show based on the novel by the same name of Prosper Mérimée, directed by the Cartagena José Carlos Martínez, who presented the work this morning in the Palace Hall with the councilman of Culture, David Martinez.
The staging of 'Carmen' inaugurates 'The summers of the Batel' on Saturday July 8 at 21:00 hours.
It is 'a pride', said the Councilor for Culture, to be able to inaugurate the summer program of the municipal auditorium with a work of the CND, more taking into account that it is a show run by a Cartagena international projection as is José Carlos Martínez.
"It is very important that from the City Council we recognize our artists" who carry the name of Cartagena for the world, has considered the councilman, who also wanted to highlight within the show that represents "a very modernized Carmen that shows a heroine Feminine "that she likes very much like Councilor of Equality.
'Carmen' was released in Madrid in 2015 and since then has been on tour with successes throughout Europe.
The choreography is by Johan Inger, who received for her the Benois de la Danse in 2016. José Carlos Martínez was responsible for entrusting to Inger this work, something that he did with all intention, to show "an international work that speaks of Spain ", As is the novel or opera on which it is based.
It is not a 'Carmen' "to use," said the director, as they sought to create a version that could connect with the young audience.
The work includes a new figure, that of the character of a child who represents the viewer, and with whom they want to show those violent scenes that appear in Carmen's myth, it speaks of gender violence, "in a way that Can be seen from the pure eyes of a child, "explained the director.
"This makes it a dance show that talks about a current issue, which denounces it in a certain way but at the same time has some dynamics and is trying to leave the theater with the desire to dance and, above all, to see More dance ".
Regarding the costumes, it is a work of David Delfín, of which the director of the CND has highlighted in addition to his talent as a designer his attention to the needs of the dancers.
The color of the costume is also an important protagonist of the first part of the show, in which we want to show the joy of the life of Carmen, and the Spanish tradition with a different touch.
The music combines the composition of Georges Bizet, creator of the music of the well-known opera, with music by Marc Álvarez composed specifically for this show.
"The music of Bizet lasted only 45 minutes and we wanted to make a great production" has indicated to explain the reason of the music that has been added.
The director and dancer has said to be very happy to come to Cartagena with this show with which seeks the recognition of the city that saw him take his first steps on the stage.
