The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has held a meeting with the directors of the water service concessionaire Hidrogea this afternoon, informing them of their intention to accelerate the decline in the price of water, which citizens They should be enjoying it for months.
The meeting was attended by Javier Segovia, manager of the South of Spain Suéz Group which includes Hidrogea;
Javier Ybarra, territorial director of Hidrogea, and Fulgendio Díaz, manager in Cartagena.
As indicated in his investiture speech, Castejón has pointed out that this is a priority issue that must be tackled as soon as possible, apart from other issues, and for this he has announced that he will keep a meeting with councilors shortly And technicians from the areas of Finance and Interior and Sustainable Development, in which it will try to unblock the situation.
In this regard, the mayor has also verbally communicated, although it will be officially made in the coming days, the agreement of the Governing Board that rejected the tariff proposal of the company.
Castejón has informed on the other hand the managers of Hidrogea that will commission a report to the Legal Counsel of the City council on the validity of the extension of the concession agreed 14 years ago and about which there are doubts about its legality.
The mayor explained during a hearing after the meeting that this is a key issue as it will determine the validity of the concession and will substantially influence the economic repercussions that could have the remunicipalisation of the service that CTSSP embodied in the current agreement of government.
However, it will also have to be attentive, according to Castejón, to the result of the administrative contentious appeal that presented this same political formation against the extension.
