On Friday, June 30, the first deputy mayor, José López, received the appointment of honorary president of the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country at a ceremony held at the headquarters of this institution.
The appointment was communicated to López at the end of last year in a meeting held at the Palacio Consistorial with the president of the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country, Santiago Díaz Izquierdo, as well as with other members of the Junta de Gobierno de The Royal Economic Society.
It recognizes from this institution the work of José López during the two years that has been the responsibility of the mayor of Cartagena, during which time the City Council and the Royal Economic Society have collaborated in different aspects such as the organization of the Year of the Enlightenment, Of whose Commission of work forms part Real Economic Society.
During the ceremony, the portraits of the presidents of the Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Country, Julio Frigard Romero de Germes and José Faura Araujo, were also placed, as well as the imposition of the Gold Medal for Citizen Merit From the year 2016 to Fernando Rodríguez Martínez.
