On June 26 the Icue Adapted Summer Municipal School started its activities for the participants of this edition.
The Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, visited this Wednesday, June 28, the school, where he has verified firsthand the development of the activities that the ICUE Miralmonte Adapted Sports Club carries out in this summer school that takes place in The facilities of the Colegio Miralmonte of the residential estate Santa Ana.
This is the fourth edition of this summer school, recalled the Councilor for Sports, who has been accompanied during his visit by the president of the Icue Adapted Sports Club, Isabel Carmona;
The representative of the Guardianship Association of the Person with Disabilities (ASTUS), María Dolores Albaladejo;
And several representatives of the school Miralmonte, as the director, Juan Carlos López.
"I have been able to verify that the municipal contribution to this project is not in vain," highlighted Segado, who stressed that the 20 children and young people participating in this edition can enjoy the summer by developing and enhancing their capabilities.
"It is a great joy for the City of Cartagena," said the mayor, who has shown his commitment to continue supporting and collaborating in this summer school.
In turn, the president of CDA Icue Miralmonte has emphasized the club's goal of seeking adaptation, accessibility and equal opportunities.
In this fourth edition of their Summer School children and young people of all ages with different types of physical, intellectual or sensorial disabilities participate.
The School carries out all kinds of sports therapies with children, from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 2 pm.
During the first two hours, activities of music therapy, games, painting, or sports such as basketball, handball or badminton are developed.
Afterwards there is breakfast for all the participants and, at 11.30 hours, swimming activities start adapted until 13.30.
For its part, the head of ASTUS has valued the initiative, which are registered some of the users of this association that turns 50 years in 2017, and stressed the importance of "having as important an activity as sport and Adapted to the needs of people, in an inclusive environment such as a school, along with other summer schools, "while emphasizing that with this summer school participants" can develop activities outside the family environment. "
Finally, the director of the school Miralmonte has assured that "it is a gift for us the example of the daily struggle and the values ​​that transmit" the participants of the activity.
In addition, he said that "as a center, we must transmit values ​​with facts because, with our actions, is what we really teach our children."
