The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, was in charge this year to announce the EnOrgulleCT 2017 in an event that took place on Friday June 23 in the esplanade of the Port and that was the starting point of the big weekend of Pride LGTBI + in Cartagena.
The event, which was also attended by Equality delegate councilor David Martinez, featured various performances such as Mandala and Titanide children's choreography groups and adults Mandala, Titanide, Dance Friends, Imperium and Renacer as well as Raffaella osCarrá.
These performances gave way to the DJs Fronxy, Kitsch me 90's, Josema and José Sánchez that will make the party lengthen well into the night.
The mayor began her proclamation recalling the figures of Pedro Zerolo and Carla Antonelli, whom he considered indisputable pillars of the struggle for the rights of LGTBIQ people in Spain.
Castejón also referred to the beginnings of his close collaboration with the collective Galactyco, more than 10 years ago, when he participated in the first manifestations of the Pride in Cartagena with the Socialist Youth.
"We want the flag of the Rainbow to look proud in the city councils around the world as it has in Cartagena since we came to the government two years ago," he said.
With its proclamation, the mayor claimed an open, tolerant and respectful Cartagena with all its citizens, "without distinction of race, sexual orientation or religion.
Your struggle is ours, and for this reason we work hard to achieve real equality and we will continue to do so, with educational policies that promote these values. "
Castejón said that "this holiday is joy, fun, passion and emotion, but we must not forget that it is also struggle and demand, because love does not understand boundaries, barriers, and borders and should be exercised freely."
It should be noted that the Preach was also interpreted in sign language and that, in addition, the facade of the Palace Hall was illuminated with the colors of the rainbow flag.
Already on Saturday, the Pride demonstration was celebrated, whose motto was 'For LGTB rights around the world', which began at 18:30 hours in the old Puertas de Madrid and passed through Calle del Carmen, the Doors of Murcia, Calle Mayor, Plaza del Ayuntamiento and finished in the esplanade of the port, where the rest of the acts of this last day took place.
There, a manifesto was read and the Gran Fiesta EnOrgulleCT 2017, presented by Raffaella OsCarrá, was held, with the performances of Kika Lorace, Nancys Supremas, Salva Gascó, and DJs José Sánchez and Josema DJ in an event Which brought together several hundred people during the night and early Saturday.
