The Local Police of Cartagena seized during the Night of San Juan about 200 kilos of pyrotechnic material and identified ten young people that they caught containers and they sent firecrackers to the agents in the urbanization of La Vaguada, according to have informed sources of the Local Police.
The reinforced turn that had been designed by the Department of Security, directed by Francisco Aznar, with police and firefighters to avoid incidents, made the day pass with relative tranquility throughout the municipality, except in La Vaguada where groups of young people with scarves on their faces and Carrying backpacks with high-powered pyrotechnic material and forklifts arrived to ambush several times Local Police agents, who sometimes went through dangerous situations.
Groups of young people set fire to containers and when they went to a police vehicle, they would fire firecrackers and other explosives.
About 12 pm a service was organized to counteract this situation, which endangered not only the agents but also the neighbors and vehicles that circulated through the urbanization.
Two policemen and 26 agents of the Local Police burst at that hour in Cuzco street and pedestrian, next to the school and the supermarket, protected with helmets and shields.
The agents dispersed the youths and seized more than 15 backpacks containing some 200 kilos of dangerous material and identified about 10 individuals, some of them from outside the city and who had been left through social networks to "have fun" thus.
The driver of a vehicle that was pulling wheelbarrows from the inside of it and also tested positive for alcohol was also penalized.
Most serious was the attendance to a minor who suffered injuries in one eye by the launching of a firecracker by another minor, to which they were instructed to him.
The injured young man was transferred by ambulance to the Hospital of Santa Lucia.
About three o'clock in the morning calm was restored.
Firefighters from the Fire and Rescue Service of the City of Cartagena recorded 43 interventions during the day, mostly related to bonfires and the launching of pyrotechnic material, which were repeated in La Vaguada, Santa Lucía and Los Mateos.
Thus, eight fires were recorded on trees, palm trees, hedges and gardens: 13 container fires;
3 bonfire fires;
15 bush fires and a blaze on a lamppost.
All of them were solved without gravity.
In addition they had to attend other activities not related to the Night of San Juan, like a traffic accident, a rescue in an elevator and a gas leak.
