The Department of Public Safety, led by Francisco Aznar, is already working on the operation to be deployed throughout the municipality of Cartagena during the Night of San Juan, June 23 to 24, and in the previous days in order to try to avoid Unsafe behavior that harms and endangers people and property, especially housing, vehicles and street furniture.
Preventive actions are already taking place.
The Fire and Rescue Service is conducting inspections in the places where bonfires are usually located, while the Local Police controls the sale of pyrotechnic products in authorized premises and makes sure that they meet the safety conditions.
In addition, during that night there will be special endowments of both bodies.
In the case of the Local Police, a total of 43 agents will work to avoid any alteration of collective security and will try to stop any dangerous behavior related to the handling of firecrackers and pyrotechnic products, in which case they will be confiscated.
Likewise, any use that is not in accordance with the legal norms that regulate them, especially those that have to do with the age according to the type of material, will be monitored.
In case of not being able to answer a call, and as in previous years, the collaboration of the National Police and the Civil Guard will be requested in order to reinforce the service and especially to monitor vandalism actions such as the burning of Containers.
With regard to Fire and Civil Protection, a series of tips have been launched to take into account before and during the night of San Juan, trying to set the fires in places with little risk.
These councils are available to all citizens through the website of the City Council.
Likewise, Civil Protection will be mobilized with three patrols and a coordination vehicle that will watch that there are no fires and will go to possible calls.
Also during the days prior to the burning of the bonfires of San Juan is gathering information about the dangerous bonfires whose placement denounce the neighbors or they have reference of them of previous years.
With this documentation, inspections by two Fire Department officials will begin with a general tour of all of them, in order to detect possible risks and correct them on the spot by advising the neighbors of the area or asking them to move or download them gas.
Likewise, on the same day of the day before San Juan and on the previous day, the inspection tour will be repeated and in each case the approval will be given or not and corrections will be made, such as cleaning of the perimeters, lightening Of any of the excessively voluminous bonfires or their displacement because they are close to urban furniture, aerial lines of cables, dwellings or other objects susceptible of being damaged or, in the most serious cases, taking the fuel completely.
For this it is counted on the aid of two trucks and two blades of the City council as well as a gondola to displace the excavating shovels.
The workers of the Department of Sustainable Development are already working on the cleaning of perimeters and the removal of scrub and materials that can ignite or spread fires.
REGULATION FOR USE OF PYROTECHNICAL MATERIAL
Local Police reminds us of the basic regulatory regulations in the field of pyrotechnics, advising that the products are purchased in an authorized establishment and according to the age of use.

CLASSIFICATION OF PYROTECHNICAL MATERIAL
- Category F1, permitted for use by persons over 12 years: pyrotechnic devices of very low hazard and insignificant noise level intended for use in enclosed areas, including pyrotechnic devices intended for use in residential buildings.
- Category F2, allowed for use for persons over 16 years old: pyrotechnic artifacts of low danger and low noise level intended for outdoor use in designated areas.
- Category F3, permissible for use by persons over the age of 18: medium-hazard pyrotechnic devices intended for use outdoors in large areas and whose noise level is not detrimental to human health.
- Category F4, permitted for professional use only: highly dangerous pyrotechnic devices intended exclusively for use by experts, also known as 'pyrotechnic devices for professional use', and whose noise level is not detrimental to human health.
This category includes objects of exclusive use for the manufacture of pyrotechnic devices.
