One of the main challenges facing intensive agriculture in the Cartagena field is the availability of quality water for irrigation.
Therefore, one of the lines of research that enhances the Chair of Sustainable Agriculture for the Cartagena Field of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) is the denitrification of brines and their enhancement.
This theme will focus next Monday, June 19, the 1st Technical Conference on the advances in desalination and denitrification of water for agriculture, which will take place in the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and which will meet companies in the sector and Specialists to discuss the existing technical solutions and those that could be to reduce, valorize and denitrification of the brines coming from the desalination plants of the Cartagena field.
The day will be inaugurated by the rector of the UPCT, Alejandro Díaz, the Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Francisco Jódar, and the director of the Chair, Juan José Martínez.
Among those invited to this day are researchers Domingo Zarzo Martínez, Technical and Research and Development Director at Valoriza Agua and president of the Spanish Association of Desalination and Reuse and Elena Campos, head of the R & D department of Valoriza Agua, Sacyr Group, dedicated to the management of the integral water cycle, as well as to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of all kinds of water treatment plants.
The day will also be attended by Manuel Abellán.
Responsible for the exploitation of the Regional Entity for Waste Water Treatment and Treatment (ESAMUR), a company that has been immersed in recent years in numerous research projects related to the purification and reuse of water;
Ricardo Martínez Vives, Executive Director of Useful Wastes, who will present a proposal of his company to valorize the brines;
And Sergio Melero Talavera, technical manager of the company INSAL and that will present a project that allows to manage the water of the wells in a more efficient way.
