The Association of Friends of the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Cartagena Enrique Escudeo de Castro (MVSAEDOMVS) together with the Department of Archaeological Heritage of the City of Cartagena, will hold Friday, June 16, the presentation of "HORN OF ABUNDANCE". trimester :
It is a rich piece of white marble that, 66.86 cm high, belonged to a statue of greater size than the natural.
The fragment found next to one of the columns of the northern portico of the peristyle of the baths of the port (Windmill) reason why the statue to which it belonged had to decorate the thermal complex.
The event will be open to the general public and will be at 7 pm at the Municipal Archaeological Museum of Cartagena.
María José Madrid Balanza, co-director of the archaeological excavations at Cerro del Molinete, together with Izaskun Martinez, technical director of conservation and restoration of the Molinete team, will give historical and archaeological information on the piece that will be prominent during the next three Months in the museum.
After this act of presentation and with the collaboration of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, there will be a classical guitar concert by two outstanding students of the conservatory, Mª Teresa Sánchez Gómez and Antonio Molina García.
This activity responds to one of the main objectives of MUSAEDOMUS as it is to divulge the great cultural wealth that owns the Municipal Archaeological Museum.
In order to fulfill this objective, the association has been conducting the quarterly presentation of a prominent piece of the museum since March of 2015, when it started.
