More than 400 athletes and referees from all over the national panorama will participate next week, from Monday 19 to Thursday 22 June, in the Spanish Badminton Infantil Championship and Cadet by regional selections.
This was presented on Wednesday, June 14, by the Councilor for the Cartagena Sports Area, Ricardo Segado, accompanied by the Director General of Sports of the Autonomous Community, Alonso Gómez, and the President of the Badminton Federation of the Region of Murcia (Febamur), Pedro Caparrós.
The championship will be played in the Wsell pavilions of Guimbarda, in the U-17 category, and Cabezo Beaza, in the U-15 category, in morning and afternoon matches, and will host the national teams of 16 autonomous communities.
Only the Basque Country will miss this appointment.
The championship will involve more than 3,000 overnight stays in hotels in Cartagena, which is an event not only sports, but also tourism, as highlighted by the mayor of Sports and the director general.
"Athletes will enjoy our city and the archaeological excellence and beaches of our coast," said Segado.
On the other hand, Alonso Gómez has indicated that, these days, "Cartagena is going to put in the showcase at national level" and has thanked the support and predisposition of the City council, through the Department of Sports, for the implementation of This championship.
He also stressed that the Region of Murcia is the only Autonomous Community that has managed to host four sporting championships, which have been distributed in different cities, and has wished regional athletes to win medals and triumphs.
Finally, the president of the Federation of Badminton of the Region of Murcia has explained that the championship will follow a league system during Monday and Tuesday with teams composed of four players in both men's and women's categories.
The qualifiers will be held on Wednesday and Thursday.
Caparrós has highlighted the possibility of following the test from anywhere in the world in streaming.
In addition, Febamur has made available to the participants, through the official website of the federation, information on the tournament and the city, with data and location of beaches, monuments, places of interest and museums in Cartagena.
In this sense, in addition, a guided tour has been organized for the submarine base for the athletes and technical bodies of the participating regional teams, which will take place during the afternoon of Tuesday, June 20.
