The Assembly of Teachers of Cartagena and Comarca in collaboration with the Department of Education Culture and Equality and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, UPCT, organized the next days 15 to 17 June the Days for Public School.
A series of events will culminate on Saturday 17th in the Plaza del Rey and the Auditorium of the Museum of the Roman Theater, with workshops and cultural and sporting events throughout the day, prepared by schools.
The event was explained this morning at a press conference the Councilor for Education, David Martinez, and representatives of the assembly, Flori Celdrán and Francisco Torres.
An event whose presentation has been a double satisfaction for the Councilor for Education, as indicated at the beginning of his speech, both for being a council delegate of the area and as a teacher and defender of public education and quality as the basic pillar of a Society without inequalities.
He also wanted to emphasize the importance of public institutions carrying out "policies that value the work of teachers and the work that is done day by day in public schools."
All activities have been organized and prepared "by schools, and are the best example of good practices carried out in schools and public institutes," explained the councilman.
The conference will begin on Thursday June 15 with the talk 'Moving with mothers and fathers' at the IES Isaac Peral Hall of Sessions, which will be the responsibility of the president of the Federation of Associations of Mothers and Parents of Students, Francisca López .
On Friday, a round table will be held entitled 'Where Public Education in the Region Goes', to which are invited representatives of the four political parties with parliamentary representation in the Regional Assembly, moderated by Sergio Amat, Vice Chancellor of Students, University Extension And Sports of the UPCT.
Already on Saturday, from 11:00 hours will start activities in parallel mode in the Plaza del Rey and the Museo Teatro Romano.
Anyone who wants can participate and enjoy workshops, cinema, concerts, dance, talks, exhibitions or exhibitions of parkour or circus shows.
Some activities that will be developed until 23:00 hours and whose programming can be consulted in the document attached to this information.
With all this programming is intended to take a positive turn of the lines of action of the Assembly, which until now had focused on demonstrations and strikes, to show the work that is done both from teaching and students in educational institutions Public, Torres explained.
For his part, Celdrán briefly recalled the history of the platform he represents, which was born in 2011 in reaction to the "cuts" and new educational laws that supposed an "attack on public education", to make clear that its objective is "The defense of the public and teaching as a good to which we should all have access to a level not assistance, but quality."
