The Cartagena Polytechnic University (UPCT) has today organized a new chair, known as the University-Business Club, with the Confederation of Business Organizations of Cartagena (COEC) to bring even more R + D + i generated by researchers and students of Politécnica to the companies associated to the employers of the cartagenera region.
"The companies are underutilizing the University", said the coordinator of the new Chair, Joaquín Juan Agüera, pointing out as an example the economic services of technology transfer SAIT, central laboratory of the UPCT.
The goal of the new chair, which provides a close channel for partner companies to collaborate with the University, is "to foster innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises and promote the employability of students," said the rector, Alejandro Díaz.
"We make a new effort to continue reducing the gap between University and Company," said COEC President Pedro Pablo Hernández, who also stressed that with the new Club Chair model "the number of Companies in the Network of Chairs of the UPCT ".
"The Polytechnic network model is a success, providing an extra practical training for students and spearheading technological innovation and disruptive, essential factor of economic growth," has also pointed out the director general of Universities, Juan Monzó.
The Chair has carried out its first activity as soon as it is created with a series of papers on the applied knowledge that the University can transfer to the productive sector.
The founder of the biotechnology industry Seprox Biotech, Eduardo Gómez-Acebo, explained during his conference the importance of patents and market studies for the creation of value in technological companies.
