The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the operation 'RATTUS', has developed an investigation aimed at clarifying alleged coercion that has allowed three people to be arrested, two of them officials of the Tax Agency Delegation in Cartagena , As alleged perpetrators of the crimes of coercion and bribery.
The operation began last May when the Civil Guard, at the request of the Higher Prosecutor's Office of the Region of Murcia, opened an investigation to clarify alleged coercion that a citizen was being subjected to.
The Civil Guard found that after these abusive practices were two public employees of the Delegation of the Tax Agency in Cartagena, both destined in the area of ​​collection.
The first investigations allowed to find out that the suspects, taking advantage of their employment, contacted the victim, who was offered the cancellation of records of derivations of responsibility, in exchange for a certain amount of money.
The Civil Guard discovered that a third person, an entrepreneur from the Mazarron area, allegedly acted as a necessary collaborator for the commission of illicit acts, establishing contact between public employees and the victim, as an intermediary.
Arrested in Fraganti in Cartagena
The investigators established a series of discreet surveillance on the suspects who habitually went to their jobs in the area of ​​collection of the Delegation of Hacienda in Cartagena.
One of these services was positive when they detected their presence in the vicinity of a restaurant in Cartagena, where they had arranged an appointment with the victim.
While one of the suspects interviewed the citizen, the other maintained a vigilant attitude in the area, while the appointment ended when they both got into a vehicle.
The Civil Guard identified the suspects who, in addition, carried 7,500 euros in cash paid, supposedly, moments before by its victim, reason why they were seized.
In view of the evidence obtained were arrested as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of coercion and bribery.
The Benemérita, prior judicial authorization, has performed the registration of the two jobs of the detainees in the Delegation of Hacienda of Cartagena, as well as in the domicile of one of those arrested, where documents related to the crimes investigated have been seized.
Fluid collaboration with the Tax Agency
The Civil Guard, which has had the full cooperation of the Delegation of the Tax Agency, continues with the investigation, so no further arrests are ruled out.
The arrested Spanish, aged between 46 and 54, residents of Mazarrón and San Javier, documents seized and investigations have been made available to the Court of Instruction number 5 of Murcia.
