The Mayor of Cartagena, José López, and the Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, have received this afternoon the members of the team of Esthetic Gymnastics Group of the Club Rítmica Cartagena, to congratulate them for their excellent role in the world championship of this discipline. Held in Helsinki (Finland) from 26 to 28 May.
The Cartagena team was represented in the senior mixed category and in the youth category.
The senior team, made up of Alba Montoro, Santiago Rodríguez, Noelia Esparza, Ainoa Sanz, Mariam Lozano, Valeria Rafalska and Marta Mula, obtained the gold after playing an excellent role throughout the two days.
As for the youth category, the team formed by Alba Blanco, Carlota Pascual, Itziar Pascual, Belén García, Candela García, Luna Tobal, Alba Sánchez, Remedios Vélez, Andrea Montero, Mari Carmen Agüera, Yolanda Pérez and María del Mar Ruiz, Was in a more than meritorious eighth position.
In both cases the set Cartagena was the Spanish team best positioned in a competition that the Russian and Finnish teams.
In the Spanish representation also participated teams of Barcelona and Sant Cugat del Vallés.

The councilors have been interested in the development of the competition in which the Cartagena teams did their exercises against more than 8,000 people.
During the meeting, the first mayor congratulated the young members of the team, while ensuring that this success is a great milestone for the sport of Cartagena and "a pride for all Cartagena."
Likewise, López has encouraged the members of the group to continue working as before to be a benchmark for all young athletes in our municipality.
For his part, Ricardo Segado has pointed out that the Club Rítmica Cartagena is a historical entity of the city, since it has been for thirty years forming children and young people between the ages of 5 and 25 years.
In this sense, the mayor has pointed out that throughout his career, the club has maintained its two main objectives, such as education and sports training through the promotion of basic gymnastics in collaboration with the Municipal School and the Federated competition at all levels.
The captain of the team, Alba Montoro, thanked both the mayor and the councilor for the support they have received from the Department of Sports, and has detailed the feeling and pride of hearing the name of Cartagena by the public address on the way out To compete in such a major championship, especially as winners of the gold in the country where the sport was born.
The Club Rítmica Cartagena has a long list of awards.
In addition to the world title obtained last weekend in Helsinki, the Cartagena team has achieved other outstanding victories as the eighth place in the international ranking of the junior women's team, added to the five consecutive wins in the Championship of Spain since 2011;
The bronze medal for countries in the World Cups 2014 and 2015 in Moscow and Faroe Islands, respectively.
