La Mar de Músicas is once again approaching Cartagena's districts and councils, as it did last year, with La Mar de Barrios, a program in charge of connecting the festival with the cultural diversity of the city.
This edition, the fishing district of Santa Lucía and the coastal town of Mar de Cristal are the ones chosen to decentralize the festival of Cartagena and will host the concerts of El Caribefunk and The Ben Gunn Mento Band, which will fill their streets with Brazilian drumming and drums Cultural activities.
"For the second year, La Mar de Músicas is not only in the center," said the Councilor for Culture of the City of Cartagena, David Martínez.The program has been designed with the collaboration of the councils of Culture, Equality and Social Services The City Council of Cartagena as well as different associations, collectives and coordinators, so the Santa Lucía neighborhood will host the festival on Tuesday, July 18, and Mar de Cristal will do so on Thursday 20.

The band is born in Buenos Aires, although its music preserves the saltpeter of the sea, the traces of sand and the Caribbean 'feeling' of his beloved Cartagena, who inspires his lyrics and erects his label.

On Thursday, July 20, the activities of La Mar de Barrios will be transferred to Mar de Cristal.
The Paseo Marítimo, next to the regatta club, will be the scene where, as in Santa Lucia, the neighborhood associations carry out different activities and show their work.
There will also be a group of batukada in its streets and the group The Ben Gunn Mento Band will put the colophon to this day of the Sea of ​​Music in this coastal town.
The Ben Gunn Mento Band is a musical project born in the city of Murcia at the end of 2007. Composed of five musicians with extensive experience in the Murcian scene, the formation tries to recover the Antillean musical tradition by playing old songs from Jamaica, Trinidad, Puerto Rico and Cuba.
With a sound faithful to this musical tradition, they bring to the public what was once the Mento, El Calypso and Son.
His repertoire is a journey through the compositions of the authors to which they follow.
