The multipurpose room of the Youth Resource Center hosts from May 24 to May 31, the course "Keys to care for a diverse citizenship", within the 2016/2017 Training Plan.
Intended for personnel of the City of Cartagena, this training action is given by Accem, an NGO dedicated to improving the living conditions of people who are most vulnerable in our society and especially the refugees, migrants and people in situation Or risk of social exclusion.
The course involves more than thirty workers from the city of Cartagena of different services, such as Social Services, Ombudsman, Youth, Police, Legal Services etc.
With a duration of 20 hours, the course is divided into six sessions that take place, five in this month of May, and one that will be held at the end of September, in order to carry out an impact assessment and assess what has been learned by The participants in their daily work of attention to the public from the local administration to the citizen.
The methodology of the course is based on participation and group work and analyzes the data of cultural diversity that exists in the municipality, the importance of culture in interpersonal relationships, identify social positioning before the reality of diversity cultural.
Differences between an immigrant and a refugee are clarified, the stereotypes and prejudices that exist on the migrant population are discussed, work is done in the management and resolution of conflicts in the care of a diverse citizenry and the normative framework on equality of Treatment and non-discrimination.
We reflect on discrimination and its causes and finally work on strategies to combat discrimination in serving the public.
