Of the good results of the Spanish participation in the European projects of Horizon 2020 (H2020) of the last triennium (2014-2016), which obtains 9.8% of the total returns in the European Union, the universities are largely responsible Public, as reflected in the report prepared by the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI).
An example of this is the Region of Murcia, in which the projects in which the universities participate get 35% of the economic return of European investments.
Thus, of the 18.8 million euros obtained in the Region, 3.2 million correspond to the UPCT of the 6.6 obtained by regional universities.
And is that among all the regional entities that participate in the H2020 program stand out the Cartagena Polytechnic, which leads two projects and participates in another five, and the University of Murcia, which leads three and attend another eight.
The projects with the highest economic returns in the Region of Murcia are those related to studies and research carried out by the UPCT, such as food security, agriculture, fisheries and livestock, Information and Communication Technologies and The transfer of innovation to SMEs.
