The Vice Mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, visited this Wednesday, May 24, members of the senior and junior teams of aesthetic gymnastics Club Cartagena, who will compete in the World Championship to be held from 26 to 28 May In Helsinki.
These are young people between 14 and 22 years old who are among the best in the world and, as recalled by Vicalcaldesa, "they spend many hours training to leave the name of our municipality and our country very high."
During his visit, Castejón wished them luck in the championship that will take place during this weekend, since, as he assured, "they deserve it".
Thus the mixed senior team is composed of eight gymnasts between 18 and 22 years old who has already achieved great successes, such as the gold medal in the Mixed category at the 2016 Group Aesthetic Gymnastics World Championship in the Czech Republic, As well as the bronze medal at the World Group Aesthetic Gymnastics Championship by country in Russia in 2014 and 2015, which took place in Russia and the Faroe Islands, respectively.
In turn, they have been champions of Spain from 2014 to 2017, which has also earned them the prize for the best sports in 2014 and 2015.
For its part, the junior team of Aesthetic Gymnastics group in the female category is composed of 12 gymnasts between 14 and 16 years old and is in eighth place in the world ranking.
They are champions of Spain from 2011 until this same year, in which they have revalidated the title.
