The actions are the result of the control carried out by the National Police at the Schengen external borders and of international police collaboration.
The detainees were claimed by the judicial authorities of Brazil and Romania.
Both EUROPOL and INTERPOL informed the National Police of these international searches for detention.
The National Police has detained in the last weeks two citizens originating in Portugal and Romania, aboard vessels, who were heard by international court claims from their countries of origin and were detained and placed at the disposal of the National Court for their extradition.

In order to carry out these functions, it is necessary to carry out continuous checks and negotiations with national and foreign authorities, both police and judicial, channeled through international cooperation agencies such as EUROPOL and INTERPOL.

To try to bypass the controls and filters of the National Police, it contributed at the ports of destination altered or incomplete identities.
This circumstance was not effective for the agents who discovered the deceit and proceeded to his arrest and later made available to the Central Court of Instruction UNO of the National Court, for his next extradition to Brazil to comply with the sentence imposed.
Similarly, the Romanian citizen, a member of the crew of a merchant of Portuguese flag, was detected thanks to exhaustive filters made by the National Police.
The detainee used two different identities to evade his detention
This individual made use of two different passports, whose identities could be linked by police officers, obtaining full credence of his true affiliation, so he was immediately arrested, being placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction of Guard of Cartagena to comply with the Judicial injunction for the commission of different crimes against property.
Over the past year, more than 3,500 vessels have been checked in the ports of Cartagena, both recreational and merchant.
