The councilman of the area of Culture and Heritage, Ricardo Segado, presided this morning, in the Palacio Molina, the meeting of the Work Table for the protection and maintenance of the Girl.
During the session were also the delegate councilor for Tourism, Obdulia Gómez, the Coordinator of Historical and Archaeological Heritage, Mari Carmen Berrocal, representatives of municipal groups that are part of the Plenary as Manuel Padín, among others, as well as José Manuel de Haro By the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena and Comarca and Benito Chereguini by the Ministry of Defense.
Among the main agreements adopted during the meeting, it was decided to hold a meeting with the neighbors of the Algameca Chica to explain the consequences of the declaration as BIC in this area, and then, if necessary, to initiate the procedures for their Application as a Cultural Interest.
Also, and in line with the actions being carried out, the members of the Working Group have agreed to request clarification of the competencies of each of the administrations and institutions in relation to the Algameca Chica.
After the meeting, Segado lamented "the absence and lack of interest demonstrated by the CHS (Segura Hydrographic Confederation) and the General Directorate of Cultural Property of CARM."
This working forum was constituted in May of the last year 2016, following the proposal made, and unanimously approved, in the municipal Plenary of August 2015, with the objective of preserving this unique place of Cartagena.
INTEREST OF THE MAYOR IN THE CONSERVATION OF THIS PARK
As a result of the interest of the mayor of Cartagena, José López, for the conservation and recovery of the Algameca Chica, last February he met with residents of the area to collect their claims.
In this sense, Lopez recalled that the City Council lacks competences in this area, with the Ministry of Defense and the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) being the competent administrations.
Thus, the mayor said that the role of the municipal government in this matter was "an observer who tries to represent the neighbors and work with them."
After the meeting, José López moved to the area next to the Chief Admiral of the Arsenal, Aniceto Rosique, and municipal technicians to know firsthand the state of this enclave.
