More than 30 plays have been presented to the second edition of the National Ceremony of Amateur Theater of Cartagena, which will take place at the Teatro Circo Apolo in El Algar from June 8 to 10, and which will compete as finalists' Here no Nobody pays', 'La Marea' and 'Floresta'.
This was announced today Tuesday the mayor of Tourism of Cartagena, Obdulia Gómez;
The Councilor for Culture, David Martinez, and the president of the Circus Apollo Theater Association, Mercedes Garcia.
Gómez has described as "great satisfaction" to present this second contest, after the successful participation in 2016 of the first edition of the amateur theater competition.
Thus, in this second edition, there have been more than 30 proposals from all over Spain that has received the organization of the contest, of which eight came from companies from the Region of Murcia, eight from Madrid, seven from Alicante, as well as from Seville, Jerez, Salamanca, Barcelona, ​​Toledo and Ciudad Real.
Finally, the finalists have been 'Here no pay nobody', the muleña company Almagra Theater;
'La Marea', of the Contemporary Theater Classroom of the University of Alicante (UA);
And 'Floresta', from the Virtual Theater Group of Elche, who will go on stage, in order, on Thursday 8, Friday 9 and Saturday 10 June.
The event will take place at the Teatro Circo Apolo, where the councilor has assured that it has a "great attraction" to be the only building in the municipality of Cartagena that is still standing and was built expressly as a circus theater in 1907 (BIC) since 1998, designed by architect Pedro Celdrán Conesa.
For his part, the mayor of Culture recalled that this event, created last year, is part of the project of cultural recovery that is being carried out in the municipality of Cartagena and has ensured that it contributes to make known the Theater Circo Apolo, which he described as "a jewel of modernism".
Finally, Mercedes García has remembered the process of organizing the cultural event.
For a period of two months, the proposals have been received, among which the three finalists have been chosen.
Thus, there will be a comedy, a drama and a tragicomedy, with very different styles "for all the audience that attends to feel identified".
The jury will select among the finalists the best work, best actor and leading actress, best actor and supporting actress, and direction.
In addition, the public attending the three representations may also award a prize according to their own votes, just like last year.
The entrance to each one of the representations of the finalist works will have a price of 8 euros, with a bonus to attend the three for 18 euros.
Also, on Saturday, June 17 will be the closing ceremony of the festival, which will premiere a monologue with text by Lito Campillo, and with free admission.
