A 63-year-old woman has died this morning at the beach of Galúa, in La Manga del Mar Menor, after suffering a fade while bathing.
Civil Protection officials from the City of Cartagena came to the site about 11:30 am, after receiving the warning from the Emergency Coordination Center 1-1-2 indicating that there was a person floating face down 20 or 30 meters from the shore.
Rescuers arrived aboard a semi-rigid boat that departed from the Isleta Yacht Club, together with a Mobile Emergency Unit of the Murcia Health Service, SEIS Firefighters of the Cartagena City Council, Cartagena Local Police and Civil Guard.
The rescuers managed to remove the woman from the unconscious water and began to perform their resuscitation, until they have taken charge of the UME restrooms that later certified their death.
