The Councilor for Portal and Transparency Office, María José Soler, visited this morning together with the Councilor for Family and Equality Violante Tomás the dependencies of the Food Bank of the Region (BARM), located in the Industrial Area Cabezo Beaza Cartagena.
Soler has talked during his stay at the headquarters of the Food Bank of the Region with its president, Enrique Garcia, with whom he has studied the current activity and future projects of this entity.
Subsequently, María José Soler has praised "the work that this institution has been doing for eighteen years, attending to the most disadvantaged in food."
Likewise, it has celebrated that "after many years of experience, CARM provides financial assistance to the Food Bank", as had already been claimed from the Municipal Government.
THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT CLAIMS REGIONAL IMPLICATION
Last week the Regional Council of Government approved the granting of a subsidy to the Food Bank of the Region for the purchase of shelves for its warehouse.
This announcement comes months after, during the first days of 2017, Francisco Calderon went to the facilities of the Food Bank of CARM and complained to the counselor Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, that the BARM received the same support Public that the Food Bank of Segura and, thus, could afford the purchase of a shelf for storage of products, infrastructure absolutely necessary to offer its usual effective service.
FOOD BANK OF THE REGION
The Food Bank of the Region, located in Cartagena, works jointly with 89 charities of the eight municipalities of the Region of Cartagena, to which must be added other associations of cities such as Aguilas, Lorca or Totana.
Last year it served more than 22,000 users, in addition to 1,200 children under two years.
It distributed more than 25,000 kilos of food, from the FEGA Plan (European funds), as well as donations received from companies and individuals.
