This Saturday May 20 is celebrated the V Cross of Alumbres 2017 in this deputation cartagenera.
This edition arrives, in its fifth year, with a novelty, that is the inclusion of the march senderista that will take place in the morning.
The Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Segado, the Director General of Sports of the Region of Murcia, Alonso Gomez, and the secretary of Club Alumbres Sport, which organizes the event, Francisco Madrid, presented the event on Wednesday.
JOURNEY FOR ALL THE PUBLIC
The day, in which the Mountaineering Federation of the Region of Murcia collaborates, will begin at 10:00 am with a non-competitive walk of 10 km that will be the main novelty.
In the afternoon, starting at 17:30 hours, with the race of the smallest, category Pacifier, with medals for all and that will have a course of about 260 meters in length approximately.
Then it will be the turn of the two races for minors;
The first, designed for children between 8 and 11 years old will start at 18:00 hours and will have a distance of one kilometer, while at 18:30 hours will be the departure of participants between the ages of 12 And 15 years, which will cover a distance of 1,450 meters.
At 19:00 hours will be the highlight of the day with the start of the absolute race, six kilometers and in which the riders will enjoy a beautiful environment that runs along natural paths and paths near the Alumbres deputation, passing by La Parreta and Cabezo Rajao, to reach the finish line in the Paseo de San Roque of the town, next to the sports center.
MARKED CHARACTER SOLIDARI
This sports event also has a solidarity, and this time has doubled the number of invitations that are given each year to the school of Alumbres so that more children can participate with a lack of resources.
A group of children from the Rascasa Association has also been invited, working in the Los Mateos and Santa Lucía neighborhoods.
Also, the V Cross of Alumbres will count this time with the participation of two chairs 'joelette'.

Segado has defined the Cross of Alumbres as "a race that puts in value the town and its surroundings" and as an "event recognized within the tourist image of Cartagena within the circuit of popular races" that foments the council of which he is responsable.
