The mayor, Jose López, has appointed two members of the opposition to chair the commission of inquiry into the extension of the administrative building.
Following the establishment of the committee of inquiry there was controversy over the appointment of an impartial member of the opposition as President.
And specifically on whether it could be a member of the PP, because the management of this group is being investigated in front of the City Council, which is why the Mayor advised by the General Secretariat of the Plenary appointed a member of a group that has never held responsibility of government.
On April 26 the Mayor asked the General Secretariat of the Plenary a report: "on whether it maintains the criterion expressed on April 18 in the constitution of the commission of inquiry concerning the acquisitions of the block surrounding the administrative building Of San Miguel, by virtue of which I delegated the presidency to a member of the opposition who has not exercised government duties, specifically the spokesman of the municipal group of Citizens D. Manuel Padín Sitcha.
"[...] In order to avoid new controversies, and to work with legal certainty, in addition to allowing this commission to continue through normality and understanding of all the formations until clarifying the object of the same I request this report. Which should also serve to avoid future delays in this work, so I consider it necessary to ratify or not in its discretion, and if not, indicate the procedures to be followed to delegate the presidency to another member of the Full".
After this request the report indicates that in this concrete agreement, because the Mayor himself who extended the purpose of the commission and voted him in favor should be designated president of the councilman of the popular municipal group Alvaro Valdés, proposed by said municipal group.
This has been carried out by the Mayor by means of a Decree in which, after reviewing the criterion of the Municipal Secretariat, Álvaro Valdés is appointed president and Manuel Padín is vice-president.
The work of the commission will continue in accordance with the decisions adopted by the members of the commission, who represent the five municipal groups.
