20 Civil Protection volunteers participated during last weekend in a training course at the Public Security School of Cartagena (ESPAC) about first responders in emergencies.
In an emergency situation it is very important to evaluate the scenario that the first participants face so that they know and can take the appropriate decisions to minimize damages.
The first participant is the first person to attend and who cares for the victims before the medical services arrive, hence the importance of their training and the ability to assess the risk, the scenario and agile and effective actions to save lives.
The course has been directed to training in first aid techniques and basic life support to injured.
The course aims to prepare the volunteers so that they can adopt preventive measures and to assess and evaluate a situation of risk and to act in an emergency situation.
What is intended is that the volunteer can give an appropriate first response to a medical emergency.
The course has a duration of 12 hours given by emergency professionals: 061 doctors, firefighters and a doctor in the area of ​​sports medicine.
Among the acquired knowledge are basic concepts of anatomy, health emergency, SVB and CPR, poisonings, foreign bodies, animal stings, trauma and fractures, bleeding and injuries caused by heat and cold.
