The area of ​​Sustainable Development directed by the mayor, José López, has launched a pilot test that will guide the works to improve the asphalt of Beatas and annexes.
This is the first step of an ambitious municipal project to undertake various actions of improvement and conditioning in the surroundings of the Plaza de la Merced and Beatas Street, in matters such as asphalting, steel, in addition to contemplating the possibility of not allowing the passage of vehicles .
The test that is being carried out consists of a dense asphalt agglomerate with a higher percentage of bitumen than usual, adding an aggregate that is polished, which allows to appreciate the edge of the aggregate, leaving a continuous pavement.
We work with a porphyry (green) arid with limestone sand, being able to vary the type of arid and play with the colors, thus defining a certain type of aesthetics.
In this way, it is constituted as a flexible pavement for road traffic, non-fissile and comfortable traffic.
Allows to be extended easily and quickly.
The test is taking place in Villalba Larga street.
However, the performance will contemplate Beatas Street and its annexes.
The final work will include the renewal of hydraulic services (sewerage and water).
The project, which is currently being drafted, will be put out to public tender soon.
The estimated time of execution is three months.
The pilot test carried out in this central enclave is a pioneer in the southern part of the country.
It is a common procedure in other regions such as Catalonia, Basque Country, Balearic Islands, Castile and Leon or Castilla La Mancha.
Thus begins a municipal plan to act in an integral way in an area of ​​the municipality in need of draft actions that revalue an environment degraded by years of inaction.
