Javier, ESO student at IES Juan Carlos I of Murcia, and Alba, a Baccalaureate student at La Vaguada College in Cartagena, have been the absolute winners of the grand finale of the competition 'Retame y Aprendo', promoted by UPCT and The Ministry of Education and in which have participated more than three thousand schoolchildren throughout the Region of Murcia.
The Polytechnic University of Cartagena has hosted this Friday the final face-to-face contest, in which a total of 67 young people have competed, measuring their knowledge in curricular subjects and general culture.
Half a thousand attendees have filled the animated Paraninfo to their respective companions in an event that has been presented and animated by IES Mediterranean students characterized as characters from films starring Johnny Depp.
In the ESO level specific subjects, Ginés del Floridablanca has been the fastest and most accurate answer to Mathematics questions;
Maria, from Saavedra Fajardo has been the most skilled with the pushbutton in Technology;
Yago, from Jiménez de la Espada, has demonstrated his mastery in English;
And Maria, of Infante Juan Manuel, has triumphed in Biology.
In the Bachillerato level of these same subjects have been imposed, respectively: Miguel, Marist Cartagena;
Manuel, of Domingo Valdivieso of Mazarrón;
Silvia, from Los Albares de Cieza;
And Elena del Ginés Pérez Chirinas de Caravaca.
The finalists have competed for technology awards, such as iPhone 7, iPad, Play Station 4 with 32-inch monitor or computers;
Leisure, such as trips to Valencia or tickets to the Roman Theater;
Training courses, such as English courses in London and speaking grants;
And sports such as tickets for material purchases and two juicy Cristiano Ronaldo jerseys signed by the entire staff of Real Madrid.
The awards are sponsored by several of the companies of the Network of Chairs (Telefónica, MTorres, BookingEnglish, Hidrogea, AICL and FMC) as well as by other entities (Decathlon, El Corte Inglés Informática, Algorithm, Illusion Sport Center, Museo Teatro Romano, Sound Visual Audio and College of Telecommunications Engineers).
The 'Rétame e aprendendo' (Educational and Learning) program tests students' knowledge through 'UPCTplay', the gaming platform applied to teaching developed by the Cartagena Polytechnic.
In the face phase has been competed through the game 'Push', through tablets in which the contestants had to mark their answers correctly and faster than their adversaries.
