This Friday, May 12 will be held in the Auditorio El Batel the Concert of Closing of the XX edition of the contest Between Strings and Metals, organized by the Department of Youth of the City of Cartagena and the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena.

A very special edition in which the contest celebrates its twentieth anniversary, so it has prepared a Gala Closing and Awards Prize full of surprises and novelties, which will be conducted by the Hechizo Theater Company.

In addition to making public the decision of the jury in all modalities of the contest, a novelty this year, is that will be delivered, for the first time, the Extraordinary Prize Between Strings and Metals, granted this time to Gabriel Escudero Braquehais.

The award consists of a sculpture by the Carthaginian sculptor Belén Orta.

This prize aims to recognize the figure of those winners of the competition Between Strings and Metals that, over the years after the achievement of their award, have demonstrated a remarkable work in his musical career.

In this way, the excellence of those musicians related to the Contest whose projection and subsequent career has placed them in a privileged position, both nationally and internationally, are valued as being worthy of such recognition.

In this sense, we must remember the other candidates worthy of this recognition and who chose to receive the award this year, such as Felipe Rodríguez García, Emilio Yepes Martínez, Paola Requena Toulouse, Pedro Manuel Beriso Ros, Javier Pérez Garrido, Isabel María Martínez Garrido and Arturo Abellán Sánchez.

Concerning the Closing Gala, it will also be accompanied by different projections commemorating the twentieth anniversary and musical performances, the first by two of the winners in the previous edition of Entre Cuerdas y Metales, Álvaro Canales Albert ( Fagot) and Luis Felipe Rodríguez Santiago (Flamenco Guitar) who will act as soloists accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena.

In this second performance the orchestra and Luis Felipe will also be accompanied by the cantaora Raquel Cantero Díaz (teacher of the flamenco cante specialty of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena).

The orchestra of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena will be the finishing touch.

The two groups will be directed by Andrés Pérez Bernabé.

The entrance to the Closing Gala of Between Strings and Metals will be free and free until completing capacity, the opening of doors will be one hour before the beginning of the act.

XX ANNIVERSARY BETWEEN STRINGS AND METALS

On the occasion of the XX Anniversary have been carried out since November of last year several activities.

First were the promotional concerts with the award-winning soloists of the previous edition accompanied by the Cartagena Chamber Orchestra;

In December, an extraordinary concert was held in which the guitarist Paola Requena Toulouse, together with the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena in symphonic format, performed the Concerto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo and where the Auditorium of the Batel- That could not see it is hung on youtube -.

In March a Flashmob with the Young Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena in the Mediterranean Space was held, as well as the first concert by the Bacarisse Trio on the occasion of the homage that has been made between strings and metals this year to the Spanish composer Enrique Granados - Flashmob and concert hung all equally on youtube -;

In April the Musical Marathon was performed with works by Granados in the Plaza del Icue in Cartagena, where fifty young people from different schools and Conservatories of the Region participated.

Throughout the months of March and April took place the 15 auditions of the competition Between Strings and Metals with massive attendance of public in the auditorium of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena and through which passed through this scene the 191 young people who appeared this year To the competition - is the year that more people have presented -, representing the Music Conservatories of Cartagena, Murcia, Lorca, San Javier, Jumilla, Cieza, Caravaca and Chaplin School of Music.

This year, another of the novelties was the incorporation of the Chamber Music modality, completing the number of 10 categories in the contest: Singing, Guitar, Percussion, Metal Wind, String, Piano, Woodwind, Flamenco Song, Flamenco Guitar And Chamber Music.

This year also increased the economic amount for prizes, increasing by 33 percent.

A total of 15,050 euros will be distributed.
