In the current legislature, the Local Development and Employment Agency (ADLE) has granted microcredit to 70% of the people who have requested it, to start up or modernize business initiatives in the municipality of Cartagena.
Specifically, in 2015, 6 projects were obtained, 3 in 2016 and 5 years earlier than in the previous year. It should be noted that in the previous legislature the percentage of microcredit loans did not exceed 40%.
The members of the Microcredit Commission of the City of Cartagena and the national coordinator of the Microbank Social Microcredit Program, Oriol Lendinez, held a meeting to explain how they value business projects, as well as their procedures.
This meeting addressed key aspects that are taken into account for the approval of these business initiatives that determine their coherence and feasibility, as well as the channeling of projects with the bank branches.
The objective of this commission is to study the viability of entrepreneurial projects presented by entrepreneurs who, due to their credit history or lack of endorsements, have difficulty accessing bank financing through the usual channels.
This commission assumes added value and a multidisciplinary character to study the viability of business initiatives and in it participate technicians of the City council representing the following councils: Urbanism (licenses of opening and activity), Social Services, Equality, Youth, Commerce and Agency for Local Development and Employment.
Vice Mayor Ana Belén Castejón has confirmed that "it is a financing tool that is proving to be very good, but it reaches a few entrepreneurs. Our intention is to be able to help the largest number of small and medium entrepreneurs, so we want to go To small loans, at an interest rate 0 and with very low settling conditions. This new line of aid will be available to the Carthaginians in the coming weeks. "
Since January of this year 2017, the Employment and Training Service (SEF office Cartagena), the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena (Cartagena Technical University) have been incorporated into this commission to establish entrepreneurship itineraries with the rest of the business agents in the local area.
